Ask a guest to cut the deck anywhere they like and place the top half next to the bottom half. To throw off suspicion, place the original bottom half across the top half at a crosswise angle, telling them that this marks the exact spot they cut. Spend a minute chanting or focusing on the candle flame to build suspense. Finally, lift the top block of cards and ask the guest to look at the card they “randomly” cut to. Because of the cross-cut force technique, they will be looking at the Three of Diamonds.
